Greene Turtle to sponsor 9th Annual Harry K Foundation 5K and walk Aug. 6

July 16, 2017

The Greene Turtle Restaurant and Sports Bar in Lewes again is sponsoring The Annual Harry K Foundation 5K and 1 Mile Non-Competitive Walk at 8:15 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 6, at 17288 North Village Main Blvd., Lewes. "The Harry K Foundation is determined to end childhood hunger in the First State one child at a time," said Greene Turtle owner Bill Frankis. "The foundation and the Greene Turtle Restaurants share a common vision."

Harry Keswani established the Harry K Foundation in 2013 and continues to raise money and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to help alleviate the problem of food insecurity in the local community. "No child should know the pain of hunger," said Keswani. With the help of the Harry K Foundation, food is provided throughout the state via the Food Bank of Delaware, the school district's food pantries and through community baby pantries. Keswani said, "As little as $105 supports one pantry per week; $158 supports one child's backpack filled with food for a whole year, and $500 supports 20 families through our Holiday Meal Box Program providing poultry and all the fixings to help a family celebrate the holidays."

The preregistration fee is $25 for the 9th Annual Harry K Foundation 5K and 1-Mile Non-Competitive Walk. Event-day registration opens at 7:15 a.m. and the fee is $30. Those who do not want to run or walk can register for only the buffet brunch for $10. For more information or to register, go to

Frankis asks the community to help children who face hunger each day. "Feeding the needy right here in our backyard is an essential step for each of us," said Frankis. For more information about Harry K baby pantries, food pantries in schools, and to Help Harry Halt Hunger, go to
