In response to popular demand, Coastal Concerts will present a special summer concert featuring celebrated local violinist Amos Fayette at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware, 30486 Georgetown-Lewes Highway, Lewes.
Fayette will perform "Suite Populaire" by Manuel de Falla, "Sonata in E Minor" by Wolfgang Mozart, “Sonata No. 3" by Edvard Grieg and "Estrellita” by Manuel Ponce, arranged by Jascha Heifitz. Due to a change in accompanist, this program is different from that previously announced. Accompanying him on piano for this performance will be Lotus Cheng.
Fayette, the Milford branch director of the Music School of Delaware, was educated at the Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory and the Juilliard School. He has occasionally served as principal second violin of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and as concertmaster under Michael Francis, James Conlon, Michael Tilson Thomas and Andrés Orozco-Estrada. He has performed as a soloist with the New World Symphony, Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Orquesta Filarmonica de Medellin (Colombia), Peabody Camerata, Kammergild Chamber Orchestra and many others.
This concert is not being held at the traditional Coastal Concerts venue. Tickets are $20; to purchase, go to www.coastalconcerts.org or visit The Vintage Underground, 2nd and Market streets in Lewes (beneath Biblion). Tickets will be available at the door with cash or check.
